NTI BUILDING A SAFER WORLD

The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan global security organization focused on reducing nuclear and biological threats imperiling humanity.

NTI collaborates with governments and organizations to raise awareness, advocate, and implement creative solutions.  As an independent and trusted partner, NTI transcends traditional thinking and stimulates new ways to address urgent nuclear threats.

NTI’s nuclear, biological, and science and technology-focused programs bring our priorities to life through projects that build global engagement, generate actionable solutions, and prompt catalytic action with the goal of fostering lasting, systemic change.

Key projects include:

  • Advancing “Nuclear Fail-Safe” to identify policies, procedures, and risk-reduction measures that nuclear-armed states could implement to strengthen safeguards against the unauthorized, inadvertent, or mistaken use of a nuclear weapon.
  • The NTI Nuclear Security Index, which promotes action to strengthen nuclear security, track progress, identify nuclear security priorities, and build accountability, in partnership with Economist Impact.
  • Launching the International Biosecurity and Biosafety Initiative for Science (IBBIS), an independent organization dedicated to reducing emerging biological risks associated with technology advances.
